General and Chemical Information

Vitamin B2, scientifically known as Riboflavin, is a fundamental micronutrient belonging to the water-soluble B vitamin group. Its chemical structure is categorized into two main forms: Riboflavin (powder form 100%), classified as an organic compound, and Riboflavin 5-Phosphate (R5P). These forms are standard components used by dietary supplement manufacturers.

Product Forms

The Vitamin B2 raw materials in our product catalogs are available in two main forms:

  • Riboflavin (100% Powder): Standard powder form, the raw material used directly in capsule or tablet production.
  • Riboflavin 5 Phosphate (R5P): Phosphorylated formulation with high biological activity.

Permissibility for Food Addition

Within the framework of regulations regarding the addition of vitamins and minerals to foods and dietary supplements in Turkey, the addition of Riboflavin to foods is permitted. This is marked as "YES" in the "List of Vitamins and Minerals That Can Be Added to Food," known as EC-1, which falls under the scope of the "Regulation on the Addition of Vitamins and Minerals to Foods".

Daily Intake Dosage in Dietary Supplements

One of the most critical points to consider during the production and marketing of dietary supplements is the daily intake dosage of the substances used in the products. According to the document "List of Restricted Substances and Daily Intake Dosages", the limit determined for Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) is as follows:

100 mg/day – 200 mg/day

Manufacturers must adjust their formulations to ensure they do not exceed this range.

Regulations and Restrictions

In order for dietary supplements containing Vitamin B2 to be legally sold in Turkey, the following steps and regulations must be complied with:

  • Regulation on Food Additives: During the packaging and labeling process of the product, the provisions of the regulation must be followed to ensure that users correctly understand the definition of food additives.
  • Instructions for Approval Procedures of Dietary Supplements: The necessary documents (such as specification certificates, etc.) must be prepared for the product to be approved by the 81 provincial directorates or authorized directorates in Istanbul/Ankara.
  • Product Labeling: The label must clearly state that the daily intake dosage is within the range of 100-200 mg/day and that it complies with the EC-1 list.
