General and Chemical Information

Niacin, known as Vitamin B3 and a fundamental component of energy metabolism in biological systems, exists in various chemical forms. In the context of dietary supplements and food technology, the most commonly used form is Niacinamide. Niacinamide is a water-soluble B vitamin and has a structure that is relatively more stable against heat, light, and pH changes. Chemically, this form is an amide derivative of nicotinic acid and is preferred in food formulations to minimize stability issues. Niacinamide is a fundamental component required for the synthesis of coenzymes (NAD and NADP) in the body and plays a critical role in cellular energy production and repair processes.

Product Forms

The most frequently encountered formulation among Vitamin B3 sources is Niacinamide (100% Powder). This form has a structure that is easy to use in dietary supplement production, fluid, and ensures homogeneous distribution. The Niacinamide form in our product is in powder form with high purity (100%). Thanks to these physical properties, it helps maintain dosage consistency by ensuring even distribution in the mixture during the production of tablets, capsules, or other solid dosage forms. When used in formulations, it is recommended to ensure chemical integrity with moisture and light protection.

Addability to Food

In accordance with the Turkish Food Codex, the use of Vitamin B3 is regulated within the framework of legislation regarding the addition of vitamins and minerals to foods. Within the scope of the "Regulation on the Addition of Vitamins and Minerals to Foods," it is stated in the Annex-1 list that Vitamin B3, named as Niacin, is allowed to be added to foods. This means that manufacturers can add Niacin or Niacinamide forms to food products within the conditions and limits specified in the relevant regulation. The use of this vitamin in food production processes is valid only within the categories and limits foreseen by the regulation.

Daily Intake Dosage in Dietary Supplements

In the marketing of dietary supplements, matters regarding the daily intake dosages of the vitamins and minerals they contain are regulated by the "Regulation on the Provisions to be Applied to Dietary Supplements" and its relevant annex, the "List of Restricted Substances and Daily Intake Dosages." However, no specific "daily intake dosage" (recommended daily consumption amount) number is specified for Vitamin B3 (Niacin) in the current list. Therefore, when a specific gram/microgram value is shown on product labels or in formulations, no limit from this official list is referenced.

Legislation and Restrictions

The approval processes for dietary supplements are carried out in accordance with the "Instructions for Approval Procedures for Dietary Supplements" prepared by the General Directorate of Food and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey. Approval is mandatory for each dietary supplement product to be marketed. Documents such as the Specification Certificate and Percentage Component List issued by food business operators are requested to clearly reveal the composition and formulation of the product. While the use of the Niacinamide form is evaluated within the scope of the "Regulation on the Addition of Vitamins and Minerals to Foods" mentioned above, the packaging and labeling processes of the product are subject to regulatory provisions to ensure correct information is provided to consumers.
